§ 40-653. General service charges; annual adjustment.

  • (a)

    Service charges to each utility customer shall be based on the quantity and quality of wastewater discharged by the customer to the utility sewers and on the size of the water meter(s) serving that user, as from time to time established by the board as listed in the city's fee schedule in accordance with wastewater parameters established by the MMSD.

    (b)

    Sewer service charges shall consist of MMSD user charges and debt service rates and utility user charges and debt service charges in accordance with the city's fee schedule, such that each customer will bear its proportionate share of the costs of administration, operation, maintenance and debt service of all wastewater collection and treatment services provided by the utility and the MMSD.

    (c)

    The sewer rates will be adjusted yearly to reflect an increase or decrease in rates charged by the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD). The adjustment will be effective for service rendered on or after December 15 of the year of the adjustment. The utility will provide notice to its customers of such charges in rates resulting from application of the purchased treatment adjustment.
